A.C. Wharton's store in Fiddler's Grove

Historic building is part of Lebanon's history

In 2002, the 1940 building on Trousdale Ferry Pike that housed A.C. Wharton's store was donated to the Wilson County Black History Committee. In June 2003, the committee, State Representative Stratton Bone and the Wilson County Fair Board placed the historic building in Fiddler's Grove at the Ward Agricultural Center. The building dedication was held in August, 2003.

A.C. Wharton operated the store that was built in 1940.

1939 - Land for store purchased by Mr. Jim Debow for $85.00

1940 - Store built and operated by Mr. Debow in early 1940s.

1960 - Store sold to Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Wharton Feb. 4, 1960 for $1,800.

1968 - Store enlarged to include space to stock restaurant supplies for local businesses

1970 - Whartons built new store on Baddour Pkwy and Trousdale Ferry Pike; operated by the Whartons from 1971 - 1984

2002 - Wharton's store donated to Wilson County Black History Committee

2003 - WCBHC, State Rep. Stratton Bone and the Wilson County Fair Board placed the historical building in Fiddler's Grove.
